BIBLE
DOCTRINE
We
affirm our commitment to the teachings of the Word of God:
1. The
Bible is "given by inspiration of God," (2 Tim. 3:16)
meaning that it is a God breathed book. It came straight
from God for "holy men" spoke and wrote as they "moved by
the Holy Ghost." (1 Peter 1:21)
2. God
is absolutely and indivisibly one. (Duet. 6:4, Gal. 3:20)
3.
Everyone is need of salvation, for "all have sinned,"
(Romans 3:23) and are separated from God. (Is. 59:2)
4. Jesus
was "God was manifest in flesh," (1 Tim. 3:16) and "in him
dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Col.
2:9) God "was in Christ," who came for the purpose of
reconciling man back to Himself. (2 Cor. 5:19)
5. The
salvation message, or the gospel, is the "death, burial, and
resurrection" of Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:1-3) It comes to
mankind as a result of God's grace, (John 1:17, Ephesians
2:8,9). We must believe the gospel and obey the
gospel. (Mark 1:15, 1 Peter 4:17) One obeys the gospel by
repenting (death), being baptized in Jesus' Name (burial),
and receiving the Holy Ghost (resurrection). (Luke 24:47,
Acts 2:38) This corresponds with what Jesus taught about
being "born again" of "water and the spirit." (John 3:3-5)
6. Once
"born again," one must follow holiness, for without
holiness "no man shall see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14, 1
Thess. 4:7)
7. Jesus
is coming again just as he left. (Acts 1:11) The church
will meet the Lord "in the air." (1 Thess. 4:17) Those
whose names are written the "lamb's book of life" will have
eternal life. (Luke 10:20, Matt. 25:26) Those whose names
are not written in the lamb's book of life will be cast into
the "lake of fire, " which is the second death. (Rev.
20:14,15) |
